Hearing Aids

Protect & Prevent

We believe that prevention is the best medicine for hearing loss. Prolonged exposure to loud noises or brief instances of intense sounds can result in noise-induced hearing loss, reducing your capacity to hear clearly and communicate effectively. We promote a proactive approach to noise-induced hearing loss, recommending custom hearing protection and advice based on your lifestyle and preferences. We recommend annual hearing assessments if you have hearing loss or sooner if you suspect that your hearing has changed. Your hearing health is of the utmost importance at our audiology clinic in Toronto.

We recommend routine hearing tests every 3 to 5 years or sooner if you notice a change in your hearing.
Tinnitus is defined as the perception of sounds, such as ringing, roaring, buzzing, and hissing, without the sound actually being present in the environment. Our audiologists will support you with tinnitus management in Toronto.
We can make custom ear plugs for individuals with unique lifestyles, including swimmers or individuals with PE tubes or ruptured eardrums who need to keep water out of their ears.
Hearing protection can be worn as a preventative measure to avoid noise-induced hearing loss, which can occur with exposure to sounds louder than 85dB.
We offer safe, effective and thorough ear wax removal for our patients. Our methods include irrigation, mechanical and microsuction.

When Was Your Last Routine Hearing Test?

Just as you would have your eyes checked and your teeth cleaned, you should book regular hearing tests to inspect your hearing. We encourage routine hearing tests every 3 to 5 years, when changing occupations or lifestyles, and when hearing loss symptoms are present. If you have hearing loss, annual hearing tests are recommended to monitor any changes. By committing to routine testing, any changes in your hearing are identified as soon as possible, allowing us to work together to take preventive measures. Schedule your next hearing test at our hearing clinic in Toronto today.

Talk to an Audiologist Today

Hearing is arguably the most important of our five major senses, vital for learning, alerting us to danger and connecting us to people and the world around us. Preserving your hearing is essential, making it crucial to understanding the factors that can impact your hearing. Hearing loss can develop from family genetics, age-related hearing loss (presbycusis), complications at birth, head injuries and illnesses, such as untreated ear infections, and continuous exposure to loud noises. At Toronto Family Hearing, we offer hearing tests and insight to determine the quality of your hearing and detect any potential issues, before recommending treatments such as ear plugs and hearing aids in Toronto.

We’re Happy to Answer All Your Questions

Audiologists are regulated health care professionals who hold Master’s and/or Doctoral degrees and are trained in the prevention, assessment, and treatment of hearing and balance problems. Our audiologists are dedicated to helping persons of all ages overcome hearing loss and enjoy a high quality of life. We also promote, develop, and implement hearing conservation programs and provide consultation to other professionals.

Changes in your hearing often happen slowly over time, so you cannot detect changes without routine hearing tests. Chances are other people will notice changes in your hearing well before you will. It’s why we recommend hearing tests every 3 to 5 years, or when you notice a change in your hearing.

There are several components to a hearing test, including otoscopy (a visual exam of the ears with magnification), pure tone audiometry (listening for beeps and responding), speech audiometry (listening to and repeating back words and sentences with and without background noise) and impedance testing (pressure tests to give us information about the structure of the ear). Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) and Auditory Brain Response (ABR) are additional tests we offer. We can modify our protocols based on your hearing abilities, allowing us to get the most accurate results while offering a thorough assessment.

Anyone that needs and wants to protect their ears and/or hearing. Custom ear plugs can protect you against noise-induced hearing loss, which can occur when you’re exposed to loud noises, generally over 85 decibels (dB). This can include concerts, sporting events, industrial workplaces, and even brief, intense exposures, like gunshots. They can also be used by light sleepers (to help block out noise while trying to sleep), swimmers or individuals who need to keep water out of their ears due to surgery, PE tubes or ruptured eardrums. Our audiologists can help you with creating your own unique pair.
